PROJECT SNAPSHOT

Following a competitive tender process, PACT Construction was awarded Stage 1 of the Kellerberrin Recreation Centre. This contract comprised a 1,755m2 main building overlooking the existing trots track and football field and incorporated a judges’ box on level 2 of ‘The Tower’.

The ground floor is 1,675m2 and consists of a bar / club room with outdoor terrace, creche with outdoor play area, kitchen and family dining, tote, offices with board / meeting rooms, a gymnasium and sports equipment storage.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

  • A work camp had to be established due to the large workforce (proportional to the population of the town). The project team worked and lived together for the duration of the project.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The completion of the project 6 weeks ahead of schedule demonstrates our ability to program tightly and effectively coordinate trades and activities, even in a remote location.

FEATURES OF DEVELOPMENT

Predominant construction features include a structural steel frame with concrete ground slab, infill brick work, a flat roof hidden behind parapet walls, and high-quality finishes throughout. The project has been constructed in accordance with BCA’s Section J requirements and gives the shire a first-class facility in the heart of WA’s Wheatbelt.
