The GHD office fit out is a six-storey, 6,550m² commercial fit out contained within the 999 Hay Street office building. It occupies level six to 11 inclusive, and part of the second level where the end of trip and amenities areas are located. Large 1,200m² floor plates occupy level six to 10, and level 11 houses the boardroom, training rooms and a large outdoor terrace.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES 

• As an ‘integrated fit out’, the base build was constructed at the same time as the fit out. Although this was a positive factor for the client (as the project was completed faster), it required an extremely high level of coordination between the site team and key subcontractors. Our responsive and agile team was able to incorporate the fit out within the base build program without adding any additional time to the original completion date, which was a fantastic achievement by the team.

• Extensive time, coordination and set out was required to ensure the floor boxes on each level (which housed the concealed communication, AV and other electrical services to the workstations) were placed in the correct location.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Custom-made workstations were designed in Perth and then fabricated and shipped to Australia from Spain. There were over 500 workstations and this was a key component for the project.

• The ceilings and grid, partitions, carpet, and then workstations were constructed to mirror the feature architectural curved wing of the structure. This required extensive coordination and set out.
