PACT Construction has been awarded the $11.3 million Byford Secondary College Stage 3 development after the estimating team achieved another successful tender.
The project comes on the back of the state government’s $30 million commitment in the 2010/2011 budget towards a range of school projects in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, headlined by the development of a new high school in Byford.
Located on the corner of Abernethy Road and Gordin Way approximately 35 kilometres south of the Perth CBD, the exciting new Byford Secondary College was planned to take shape over three stages in line with population needs.
Stage 1 was completed in 2014, with further funding allowing the development of Stage 2 in mid-2016. The school is now ready for the final stage of development, which PACT will deliver in three phases.
Phase One will see minor interior modifications to the existing 120m2 staff common room to increase the usable area of the adjacent library.
The bulk of the works will be carried out in Phase Two, starting with preparation works such as sub-soil drainage, car park and entry road construction, fencing, landscaping and path demolition. PACT will then commence construction of a striking two-storey building comprising 4,200m2 of floor space, complete with general purpose, flexible and incidental learning areas, business studies and IT laboratories, a lecture theatre, staff common room, collegiate areas and amenities, student services, ancillary areas and toilet accommodation.
Turf installation and an establishment period will be carried out in Phase Three.
Set for completion in time for the commencement of the 2018 school year, the project will deliver Byford Secondary College an outstanding facility aimed at upholding the original vision to “create a vibrant and successful secondary school in the heart of Byford”.
PACT look forward to building another great asset for our community.
